Mike Steverson Jr.
Mike Steverson Jr. serves as Chief Executive Officer of Legacy Education Collective (LEC), where he leads the design and launch of a unified, future-ready education model grounded in community, innovation, and long-term impact.
A graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Mike’s commitment to service and leadership was shaped through the U.S. Coast Guard’s College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative (CSPI), which provided the opportunity to complete his degree program while preparing to lead in military service. He went on to serve a total of 11 years as a U.S. Coast Guard officer, honorably separating in 2020—an experience that instilled a deep sense of accountability, systems thinking, and servant leadership.
Following his military career, Mike transitioned into the technology sector, where he currently works as a risk and compliance professional at Cisco. His work in highly regulated, complex environments informs his approach to building sustainable organizations—emphasizing governance, integrity, and thoughtful design at scale. This perspective directly influences Legacy Education Collective’s focus on exposing students and communities to technology, sustainability, and forward-thinking systems from an early age.
Mike’s connection to education is deeply personal. He is the son of the founders of The Success Learning Academy (TSLA) and The EJ Wright School for Success (TWS), institutions that have served their community for over two decades. Having been around and volunteering within these schools gave him firsthand insight into both the power of education and the responsibility of stewarding a legacy. Through LEC, he is committed to honoring that foundation while evolving the model to meet the needs of today’s students and tomorrow’s world.
Mike believes that education should be cohesive, relevant, and rooted in real-world application—and that when communities are built intentionally, students are positioned not just to succeed in school, but to lead beyond it.
